The International Maritime Shipping Industry is under significant global mandates to reduce fossil fuel emissions with full compliance required by the year 2020.

The engines in question, are quite large (generally 10’s of thousands of HP); so major engine retrofits of the 50,000-100,000 vessels in operation worldwide is very expensive, both in the conversion and in the large amounts of time-related revenue losses (months).

To date, expensive, post combustion / post emission, pollution treatment scrubbers are being used as a short term solution. While effective, the systems are “right-to-operate” cost consuming units and the installed capital cost are still significant ($5M - $10M) and still require significant ship downtime for fitting (weeks to months).

Green Framework LLC has developed a different approach.

To address the pollution problems faced by the industry, Green Framework LLC has developed its H2-go. It is a not a pollution control system but a pollution prevention system that mitigates / eliminates emissions at source there by improving combustion efficiency. This improvement in combustion efficiency further translates into lower fuel consumption as well as lower maintenance/operating costs.

The clean burn results in a significant reduction in soot /carbon formation. With reduced carbon deposition, the major cause of frictional wear and lubricity issues, the engine will experience wear requiring less maintenance and leads to an increase in engine lifespan.


Our patented, system utilizes sophisticated firmware/software with a special algorithm to control technology that has been validated by NASA and SAE to improve performance of any internal combustion engine...for use with any fuel, including traditional marine fuels such as heavy fuel oil (HFO) or marine gas oil (MGO).

The H2-go Apparatus is the only known emission reduction technology to offer a GAIN in fuel efficiency, often 10-15%.

By improving the combustion chemistry, without the use of additives, significant emission reductions have been observed:

Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) Reduction Up to 60%
Carbon Monoxide (CO) Reduction Up to 99%
Hydrocarbons (HC) Reduction Up to 99%
Particulate Matter (PM) Reduction

Up to 95%

Opacity (Smoke) Reduction Up to 98%

While the final design, based on testing on the large engines, needs to be conducted, GF feel our system will be a fraction of the cost of the scrubbing systems and with a very short installation timing (days), as most of the work will be done in a modular fashion, off-site, to shorten installation time.

The H2-go is an electrochemical process that involves chemical ionization of existing combustion chemistry species already present in the engine system. Via a proprietary frequency controller, the chemical activity of the combustion mixture greatly enhances the engine's ability to extract “clean” energy.

A self-funded R&D program over 5 years of $3.0 M has resulted in the production of a stable, highly efficient self-contained system, which is a standalone and operates completely independently of the existing engine. Reliability and control issues which have plagued similar attempts at electrochemical cell designs have been completely resolved.

The power requirement for the H2-go is low voltage and is minor in comparison to other power consumption needs of the vessel and, under normal circumstances, this will not tax the power generation capability of the vessel’s independent power generation system.

This “bolt-on” system operates completely independent of the existing engine powertrain. In the event of a H2-go system issue, the unit can be taken off-line without compromising the operation of the existing marine engine. No significant modifications to the engine or engine control (computer) system.

The H2-go component assembly/design may be specifically adapted to the available spaces onboard the vessel.

Simplicity, emission reductions, cost savings, and reliability are the goal of the H2-go.
